Canggu’s Madness, Indigo’s Magic
Canggu on a Saturday? Risky move, I know. But when my friends suggested dinner at Indigo, I didn’t hesitate. I’ve heard too many good things about this place. Japanese fusion, stylish interior, and apparently, they’ve got decent parking. In Canggu? That’s a rare gem.
I decided to brave the roads and brought my car, hoping I wouldn’t regret it. Traffic was, well… classic Canggu. Slow-moving scooters, surprise potholes, and the usual chaos. But once I turned onto Jalan Pantai Berawa, I spotted the Indigo sign and felt a bit of relief. They actually validated parking, and I didn’t have to do 10 laps around the block. Already a win.

Walking in, the vibe hit different. The place is minimalist but warm, with wood accents, soft lighting, and little Japanese design touches that made me feel like I’d stepped into a quieter world. The staff were super friendly but not pushy, and our server actually explained the specials without sounding like a robot. We ordered a bunch of things to share: New Style Sashimi, Salmon and unagi rolls, Soba noodle Salad.
Each dish looked like it belonged in a magazine. It wasn’t just about the flavour (which, by the way, was 10/10)—the plating was so beautiful we almost didn’t want to ruin it. Almost. We definitely ruined it. Everything had this balance of delicate and bold, like they knew how to play with textures and flavours without going over the top.

We ended up staying for hours. Conversations flowed, the lighting made everyone look good (thank you, ambient glow), and the background music was chill enough to let us actually hear each other. The space felt intimate without being cramped, great for a night out.
When it was time to head out, we weren’t exactly thrilled to get back into the traffic maze. Even at night, the roads were still busy. But honestly, the Indigo experience kind of mellowed me out. I didn’t even mind the slow drive home. It gave me time to replay the night in my head—good food, good laughs, and a restaurant I’d absolutely come back to.

So yeah, if you’re looking for a spot in Canggu that lets you hang, eat well, and escape the noise for a bit, Indigo’s your place. Just maybe leave a little early—or better yet, grab a ride and skip the stress. Either way, it’s worth it.
