A Cowboy Story From A West Side Bali
We discovered this place accidentally when we visited the Kedungu area. The place itself is quite eye-catching with rustic decoration and an interesting name “Salty Cowboy” and it grabs my attention. The second time I visit Kedungu, I contact them to plan a visit. When we arrived, Dewi welcomed us warmly and took us to walk to their stable.

Salty Cowboy was founded by Ibu Simone, and they opened their doors in 2018 and became a home for around 16 horses, and one one that makes they are unique is the horses rescued from malnutrition, abuse or owners who just couldn’t keep up with the horses training and upkeep, then Salty Cowboy team give them a loving and nurturing home and an education. The team is dedicated to horse care, and they have a long experience in taking care of horses because the horses coming to the rescue all have special needs and it’s important that the workers have patience and an understanding of horses with trauma.

They also have a villa in their area, the villa combines a rustic wooden house with modern comfort, offering a peaceful stay while enjoying the view of the stable and the horses chilling and grazing in your villa’s front garden.

We book the 90-minute rice field & beach ride. The team helped us choose boots and a helmet, and then showed us the horse that was company us today. They give me some treats for the horse to get to know each other. And for me the ride is amazing, the rice field view in the Kedungu area will pamper your eyes, and the beach is a black and long sandy beach. Salty Cowboy offers tours 2 times, in the morning and the evening. The reason is to give the horses rest at the time when the sun is strongest. I suggest contacting them first if you want to book a horse ride program because they are strict with their regulation. Salty Cowboy does have a weight limit of 70kg to keep their horse’s backs and legs healthy. If you are in doubt, send them a message with your questions.

This makes me highly recommend booking a ride at Salty Cowboy when you’re in Bali! Because they do not just like a regular stable, they do love their horse with their heart.
